1985 johnson 70hp VRO sparkplugs and gap

I use champion QL77JC4 plugs gapped at 40th.,I am getting conflicting info from forum.Is there a service bulitin that states a change to 30th. gap?

On my 1988 60hp Johnson, I found that it idled better with the plugs gapped at .040. The specs in my service manual do call for a gap of .030.

It is reccomended to gap them to .030, however, if you do heavy idling or trolling, I would go to .035 or .040
