Trim Guage Question

Thanks to this forum I found the cause for my "Up" switch not working and fixed it. Now for my newest minor dilema.
The trim guage either reads all the way down or all the way up nothing in-between. Is this simply a matter of replacing the gauge with a new one or is there possibly a deeper underlying problem?

The trim gauge is probably ok. The sender is usually the culprit. It's located on the motor or outdrive somewhere around the trim mechanism.

Ah ha... probably on the opposite side from the limit switch which was wet and shorting out. Likely the same problem with the sending unit. Thank you!
