Hi all

I have a mariner 15 marathon think it’s a Yamaha, but it has not been used for about 4 months and it was working fine but now it wont turn over pull cord is solid if I grab the flywheel it moves about 4 or 5 millimetres in either direction but that is all, when I look down the plug holes with a torch and move flywheel I can see both pistons moving a few mill.
So any idea whats wrong is it main bearings or some sort of locking system I have a shop manual but cant find anything of any help at the moment, any help many thanks.

Try some penetrating oil in the cyls. and see if that don't free it, it's why the engines need to be made ready for storage.

yep tried that but no good still locked solid

Then drop the lower unit to see if the problem is in the engine or unit, you may have a pinion bearing seized
