Fuel leak

I found a leak in the fuel line that runs from the top of the powerhead to the bottom of the powerhead. What is this fuel line for? What are the effects on the engine having a leak in this fuel line? (95' 35hp Johnson AML35D 2- cylinder).

Are you referring to the hose marked number 24 in this diagram? If so, it needs to be clamped at the ends as shown.

Yes! That's the hose. What are the effect(s) on the engine with a leaking #24 hose.

Basically, when unwanted air can get into an engine, it will tend to run lean, creating excessive heat and damaging the engine (not to mention running roughly).
