Anybody have a guess as to how much it cost to rebuild a Suzuki Df 70 with a cracked block. Getting and estimate between 4000 - 5000 after machining, parts , and labor. Sound about right? Time to replace? Zero experience with this.

Sounds like to me you could find a used motor and save you money. You could probably part out that motor and recouperate some money too. You can probably find a motor like yours for $3000 or less. If I were you, I'd look into finding a solid used one - potentially with a warranty if you get it from a dealer.

Even a rebuilt/new powerhead shortblock should cost less than that, Jupiterrn.

I can't help on the repair estimate but am curious as to how the engine block cracked. Overheating? I have a DF70 so it's always good to know what things to avoid.

Well long story mde short, it would now appear my engine has eaten itself from the inside out. It is not a cracked block but a crumbling block. Let me just say that try to never have spliced wires in a "wet" boat. DOH!!!!!
