Default 1967 Evinrude 60hp Sportfour lower unit

Ok guys, Now I have the lower unit removed to replace the impeller and seals. I am getting water into the lower unit. Here's my dumb question of the day. I know there is a seal on the prop shaft. And I think I am seeing a seal on top of the water pump housing where the driveshaft comes through. Is there another seal under the bottom plate of the water pump? And is there a kit that would include all the pertinant seals? I was surprised how easy is was to remove the lower unit. I just don't want to get in over my head and tear into the lower unit any more than I need to. I have a Secor manual which helps, but it seems a bit vague on some of these things. Thanks again.......Zeph

There's seals on every opening, the prop shaft, the drive shaft, the shift rod, the bearing retainer. You have to remove the water pump to get at the gear case seal on the drive shaft. These seals keep oil in and water out. Don't forget the drain and vent plug gaskets too. Often these are the source of leaks. Have you used the BRP site for exploded parts diagrams?

Thanks for the reply, I am not familiar with the "BRP" site. Zeph

Delete the quotation marks and copy into your browser URL. Click on "View Parts Catalog" then scroll down to 1968 and select a motor, likely the 65hp and see if it looks the same as yours.
