I have a mariner electric trolling motor 422R. To connect the wiring harness to the battery there are 3 wires--red, orange, black. Can you tell me how to connect them to my 12V battery?
If you have three wires you have a 24 volt motor, not a 12V. However, if you want to run the motor on 12 volts, connect the ORANGE wire to the POSITIVE battery terminal and BLACK wire to the NEGATIVE battery terminal. If you really want to use the 24 volt capability you need two 12 volt batteries which is where the third wire enters the picture. Here is a diagram for that.
