Question Yamaha Fuel Management Gauges

There has been a couple of recent threads regarding these guages. I am re-powering with 1999 Yami 250's that came with 2 Tachs, Speedo and Fuel Management. My old set-up also had these gauges (1994/5 era). My replacement gauges seem a little different on te rear. First, the older gauges have white casing on the back and seem to have the ability to be unscrewed and opened for service. There are also yellow adjustment switches on the back of the gauges (for example MPH, Knots, kPH on the Speedo; 4-6-8-12 selections on the other 3). I am most curious about short black video type plugs that go between the Fuel Management and Speedo gauges-one male (FM Gauge), one female (Speedo), and are connected on my old set-up. The newer gauges have all black casing and are sealed preventing them from being opened up, none have any exterior adjustment switches, and there are no video type plug on the Speedo, only the male end on the Fuel Management. I am now wondering which gauges are newer and is there any function lost between the Speedo/Fuel Management gauges without the ability to connect the video type cable? What are the specific functions of the video cables...connect to other equipment?

its all still there.
now its behind rubber plugs. the rotory switches are now DIP switches for selecting 2 or 4 stroke,6 or 12 pole alternator and 2 or 3 wire trim send.
the FM and speedo can still be connected via the small cable.
