i am back with the m40d and have a problem with water getting into the lower unit, i thought it was getting in through the drain and fill screws because they did not have any gaskets, i replaced the gaskets and have had the boat in my driveway working on the trailer and have noticed lower unit fluid leaking i can see it coming from where the water is sucked up into the engine (where ear muffs would go) where would this be coming from and how can it be fixed?

The prop shaft seal cannot leak into the cooling system intake area, so there is no reason to replace it...But, as a matter of maintenance you should reseal the entire lower unit.
