I don't have experience with your model boat, but I do have Smart Tabs on mine. So far it seems that 99.9% of those who have tried them love them, myself included. Biggest improvements seem to be with bow rise getting on plane (cut mine by half easily!) and porpoising (eliminated!). May gain a little speed too. Do a search on smart tabs and read for yourself. The owner of smart tabs is also a member here and is great to deal with!
