1972 18HP Evinrude Steering Bracket

Please Help a newbie! I have a 1972 18HP Evinrude. The old motor is tight and really runs good. Problem is when it arrived here, the tiller handle had been broken off. Where it mounts to on the steering bracket, the area that looks like two washers is busted. Any ideas on how to repair this area. All of the steering brackets I have found are cracked. Is there a repair kit or something for this. Please help.

ebay, tcoutboard.com is it the tiller that broke of the bracket.

Don't waste time trying to fix the part. Replace it. It isn't as hard as it looks.

Tring to figure out if this is the right part for me. Ebay Item number: 320229722183.
I have looked at the site I use for part numbers. http://epc.brp.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fDefault.aspx
They do not list this year and HP.
Please help !

Right, there was no such thing as a 1978 20hp, so we can't tell for sure what he is selling.

According to the parts book, the '72 18hp is different than the '78 25hp.
