go figure i need to know what the optimul piston to bore clearence
would be i believe the type of piston may come in to play its 030 right know
the manual states that some of the models run a little looser
im sure the machinst knows his stuff but i need as much personal
info as possible i want to try to get the rotating assem; as perfect as possible with minimum funding , funny right]
any other stuff on the rebuild of 1983 evinrude 150 cross flow that is critical
are to look out for will be great, any small performance mods that are
reliable would be great also

Re: evinrude 150 powerhead rebuild

If using .030 over pistons, the bore is .0305 to .031 over standard for wiseco-the only piston I would personally recommend.
You might gain a little bit by putting the XP/GT heads on, and I wouldn't put it back together without a set of Boyesen reeds....follow the instructions on those for proper idle circuit jets.

Re: evinrude 150 powerhead rebuild

thanks wally i believe that the mech that did this motor used a cast piston
kit i will probaly have to bore one to three of the pistons on the right side
the paint on that side is burnt off due to the over heat can i use the
forged wyscos along with the others if they are cast are should i just run some cast piston .may finish motor and sell and try to find me a gt or xp or vindicator.
thanks bennyb
