Hello,

This is my first post on this forum. I tried searching for something similar to this and couldn't find anything.

I'm trying to find out what a reasonable price a shop would charge to rebuilt my two carburetors . They are still on the motor. The engine is a 1984 Mercury outboard motor, 75 HP.

I'm getting a quote for $600 to rebuild both of them. $75/each for the two rebuild kits ($150), and 3 hours each at $75/hour ($450).

Does this seem very high to anybody else? I can't do this work myself, and can't find any other shops in my area (Levittown, PA) who will work on this motor (2 other shops gave me the excuse of the engine being over 20 years old and they don't want to work on it).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Flat rate is about 2 hours and you probably don't need complete kits only gasket kits and a inlet needle for each carb. at less than $20.00 each

Thanks for the help. Is that 2 hours for each of the 2 carbs? Meaning 4 hours total for the complete job?
