Default Mariner Tachometer help

Hi

I picked up a Mariner Tachometer from a boat jumble and was wondering if anyone knew a little about it and could give some guidance before I tried connecting it up.

The Tacho is mostly black with white numbers and an orange needle, the writing on the face indicates:

X1000 r/min
MARINER
NIPPON SEIKI JAPAN

There are no serial/part numbers

This is the interesting part….there are 6 pins on the back and no selector, like you get on the Teleflex gauges.

There are 2pins towards the middle, I can only assume are for Positive and ground but they are not labeled. (HELP)

The 4 pin towards the bottom edge are labeled from left to right, 12, B, 4 and G.

There is a metal bridge between 12 and B but this could be moved to bridge B and 4.

I have 97 Mariner 60hp (3cycl) 2stoke….tacho connects via the gray wire on the 5pin harness from the control box(16900A15).

There is also a light with a blue and black wire…no points for connecting this up 

Any info on how to connect this tacho up would be much appreciated as I have trawled the net and found nothing on this gauge.

Lightbulb wire hassle

from looking at the pic....

i'm guessing the bridge is not to move, but just to combine battery. the two pins in the middle might have no function at all in electical sense, only to mount the gauge. mind you: "might"....

the two wires on top probably are for the light, and are hence polarity insensitive.

now you're left with exactly the number of wires you minimal need for a tach... plus (battery), minus and tach....

i'm guessing:

12 = 12 volt
B = battery
4 = 4 stroke / pole tach
G = ground (minus)
