Default 115 evinrude lower unit removal

I am trying to replace the impeller on a 1990 115 and I have followed instructions in manual to remove lower unit and it won't drop down. I released shifter linkage under the hood and removed all bolts on bottom holding unit to exhaust housing. Are there pins or something that may have corroded that are preventing the seperation? Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

welcome to iboats. did you get the bolt hidden under the trim tab?? pull the spark plugs, and manually turn the flywheel. suggest you put something under the lower because when the drop the drop hard. could be rust in the splines of the drive and crank shaft.

There is 7 bolts on this lower unit,

I just went through this a few weeks ago.

there may be two bolts up under the trim tab once you remove it.
