Default 1995 150 Evinrude fuel filter question.

Just put a glass inline filter on my boat and saw some nasty things flowing through. Checked my fuel filter at the fuel pump and there were some particles in it. I just purchased the boat a little while ago and can see there have been fuel flow restriction problems. I just swithed out my anti syphon valve, it was frozen in place. My sender on my tank is quite rotted and the low spot at which it sits pools water around it. I am thinking water may well be seeping under it and getting into the fuel tank. I could see water in the glass filter which I installed today. My question is, do ya think the carbs need to come off for a cleaning or does the filter at the pump keep the crud out. I mean if it gets past that fine screen does it also pass through the carbs and then the exhaust not being an issue due to it particulate size? Appreciate your replies. Thanks in advance.

install a fuel/water separating filter. all boats with built in tanks, should have one. goes between tank and primer bulb. also when you install it, fill the filter with fuel, this will make priming easier, the first time.

if you are not having any problems now, you are probably ok, but install the new filter.
