This was a rough running motor when i got it.
Replaced a galded piston & rings
Replaced fuel pump
Replaced impeller
Overhauled both carbs
Runs out great.... top end is smooth as silk.
when idling along in gear(trolling) or sitting there idling while i do something like checking my graph. the darn thing dies.
seems to need to be choked to start at that time too
is it running itself out of gas? i have insoected the fuel pump, looks ok. remember, it is new.
running 'regular' or 'plus' gas with 50:01 good branded oil.
running factory recommended plugs.
new plug wires
we set the idle up a little to try and cure, but it still dies

Re: 1982 Evinrude 60; dies when idling in gear or out
i think i can get a clymer manual locally.... unless someone says they arent as accurate.
i have had both good and bad experiences with 3rd party manuals.
Re: 1982 Evinrude 60; dies when idling in gear or out
I would go OEM. The multi range year/hp manuals are not quite as specific, and dont always have the diagrams and explanations.
Your best bet would be a used original from Ebay, expect to spend around 30 to 35 bucks. Outboardbooks.com is a good site, a have factory re prints, although are a bit more money. Search Searayman13 on ebay, he usually has a vast assortment.

yes, there is plenty of help here, you need the OEM manual, it will help you understand what we are saying. you are also our eyes and ears, and will help there. we are very lucky that KenCook bought the rights to publish these manuals, or we would be sol, for a good manual. they deserve every cent they make.
