what paint???

I want to redo..or go over my boats name on the back as the paint has dulled and faded enough to bother me..What paint is used for the name painting? Can I paint right over whats there?

Is it just the name that has faded or the paint under the name?

also, sometimes, decals are used for the names. Just something to consider.

The painted on name is fading, it was a glossy black thats now real dull looking. Changing to decals would be real hard now
