rubber bumpers

Good evening!

This is a rather strange request to all who have the '56- '58,9 7.5, 10, 15 etc. My 10 hp is missing the rubber bumpers on the front of the engines side plates that the cowling's cups slip into when you put it on. These keep the hood tight so it dosn't rattle. I know you can't find them and not long ago a wrench told me what he used, but since I've slept a couple of times since that conversation, I'm clueless as to what it was. Any ideas or sug's would be great. Thanks!

Re: rubber bumpers

If you're looking for function alone, try a small chunk of 1/4-inch or 5/16-inch ID fuel hose, cut to length. I've used it on several motors over the years and it works fine...
