Does anyone have experience with the 90 HP 4 stroke EFI. I'm trying to decide between the Yamaha and the Honda and I would like to hear your thoughts on reliability, fuel economy, maintenance, noise, etc. Thanks.

I realize that Honda has many devoted and happy owners - - - - I was one of them until I needed warranty work. I will never buy another Honda. The factory rep that I dealt with should have never been allowed to speak to a customer. I had two years of back and forth to the dealer before the factory finally replaced the engine. Go with the Yamaha!
Getting warranty work done on a Suzuki is probably the worst out of them all. I guess it is ok since nothing ever broke on our suzuki during the 6 year full warranty and still hasn't broken. The Suzuki guys never get to practice because they never see a Suzuki with a problem the owner didn't cause. Our honda seems to be doing as well as the Suzuki so far. 2.5 years old and we haven't had a single problem.
I have a 2006 Yamaha F90 on a 16' homebuilt runabout. The boat has a 20 degree Vee at the stern and is built heck for stout. I frequently go 30 miles offshore in the GOM, but I do have to pick my days so to speak. The performance I've gotten out of this outboard has been stellar. The only problem that I've had with this is what I have caused myself. I located the fuel tank vents on the sides of the boat. That caused the ingress of saltwater into the tank. Add a good gulp of saltwater to ethanol based gasoline and you have a problem. I moved the tank vents, cleaned the mess out of the fuel system (that I caused) and have had a great couple of seasons. This engine is strong, smooth and quite. I even installed a radio in the boat after I put on this engine. Just keep the fuel clean, don't over-prop it and keep the maintenance up. I'm really pleased with my purchase and can honestly give this engine a good review. Hope this helps - Woodnaut
