I just purchased a 1991 Trophy 2302 and the tach isn't working. The original 150hp was replaced about two years ago with a 1998 Mercury 175hp (Offshore). The tach worked before the engine swap. I have power to the tach and the needle does move when the ignition is turned ON. It just reads zero when the engine is started and running. Any ideas???

Evinrude motor is a 12pole / 6 pulse motor. Check out the Mercury engine forum for the # of pulses a Mercury 175hp 1998 puts out. Check the back of the tach if there is a setting for that. If not, you will need to replace the tach.
