I had a compression test pulled on a '95 E'rude 150 by a mechanic. I am thinking about buying this boat. The readings were: 1:105psi; 2:95psi; 3:102psi;
4:104psi; 5:101psi; 6:88psi. The owner says it was rebuilt 2 years ago. It drives pretty good, plugs look good. It ran over 60 mph easily, but I am worried about #6. Can someone help me?
agree. or negotiate down and take a chance that a decarb will bring them up. if you really like the boat, pay for the decarb to be done, and then retest the compression, with the same guage. then go from there.
we all need to support iboats marine store when ever possible. you get, competitive prices. fast shipping, top notch customer service. also it provides us, this great FREE forum.
if i was you i would not buy that motor unless you are buying it as a project that you are going to rebuild.
if this motor was rebuild two years ago and it has uneven compression i would buy it for 400 dollars knowing i have to if im lucky rering the pistons, clean the carbs in best case. +/- $500
worst case rebore the bad cylinders, buy new pistons gaskets etc etc +/- 1200
