Raker or Tempest?

I am thinking of getting a jackplate for my rig, and was told I should go with 6" set back, start at 4" below pad, and use a 25p Tempest. My current setup is... 1992 Cajun 1900 Tournament with gross weight of 2400-2500 lbs., 1992 Johnson 200GT, 14.5x20 Raker, 58mph@6300 rpm. I do not know current prop shaft to pad #'s, but motor is as high as it can go currently.
I know that with the JP rpm's will likely increase. But..enough to increase pitch by 5"? Should I stick with a Raker, or switch to the Tempest?

Re: Raker or Tempest?

Make one change at a time. Add the jackplate and rerest. Then change props if necessary. t's been our experiance that a cajun needs all the lift from the prop it can get. A Raker has as much or more lift than a Tempest. If it were mine and I was going to make a switch, I'd go with a Turbo Lightning. It has more lift that either the Tempest or Raker.
