Carb rebuild '76 115hp

Okay, I'm new to this and just wanted to try my hand at it, so be patient w/ my stupid question. I bought a 76 115 and decided to rebuild the carbs as good measure. I bought the kit from the local marine dealership. Problem is I've got the suckers broke down as far as I can see that I can and there's extra o-rings and seals in the rebuild kit that I have not removed from the old one and one extra gasket that looks like it wont fit anywhere I've seen. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm hoping that maybe the carb was rebuilt once and some " half asser" did'nt put everything back like he should have.

Do you have a manual, if not, it is a wise investment. This tutorial may help with your first carb rebuild. Was it a universal kit? Some have extra parts which may not be applicable to your use. Make sure you get at those jets well, they are often overlooked. May need a specialized tool to get them out, such as this, or bare minimum run some machinists wire through them, soaking them is not enough.

That is true. Many kits have stuff in them does not apply to your engine.

Just make sure all the passages are clean and free of debris. There should be a float level guage, in your kit. Make sure you get that right.
