I have a sticky spot in my steering it has safe-t-steering with a cable, when i turn all the way to the stop it gets stuck, only when the steering rod is in the cylinder, doesnt stick when turned the other way, rod out. Ive greased the cylinder, oiled the cable, what am i missing? is there a tension adjustment? Thanks

Re: sticky steering

disconnect at motor and try helm, and motor separately. could be a tight bend in the cable

Re: sticky steering

As Tash said. But taking it a step further, remove the cable from the support tube or tilt tube, whichever applies. Did you do that when you "lubed" it? The tube must be cleaned out before re-lubing. Especially if we are talking about the tilt tube kind. They rust inside. Gotta get that rust out.

However, there is the other possibility: The cable end might be bent. Then when it withdraws into the tube it locks up. Very difficult to straigten one. Cable replacement is the usual cure.
