Hello,
I am in need of a recoil pull start for a 10 HP Seahorse outboard. The model number is a QD 21 which tells me that it is a 1950 model. Can anyone help direct me on which one I need? I have noticed several on ebay, however they are for 1963 40 HP. They look like they will work but I would like to make sure. Thanks!

I doubt the 13 years difference will work. Check Twin City Outboards.

QD-21 is a 1960. A 1950 is either a QD-10 or 11. Double check your number. a 40 hp won't fit any QD.

There were two main types for the QD. Early ones had 3 pawls grabbing a cage affair on the flywheel. Later ones had one plastic pawl grabbing the rim of the flywheel. Not interchangeable.

The three pawl ones can be a bugger to line up if not in good shape... the 1 pawl one works well...
