Steering Friction Screw Issue/Question

My last trip taking the boat out, I was tightening the motor steering for travel. As I did, the motor didnt get very tight, and seems that the screw may be stipped. The screw tights to a point, then pushs out slightly and the steering never gets too tight. How can I fix this issue? Has anyone else had this issue before?

I typically tighten and loosen the screw while transport to keep the motor upright so it doesnt fall to either side while driving. I loosen it when in use so I dont have to strain to push the lever.

Thank you,
Dan

Re: Steering Question

Welcome!!

We'll assume you have a tiller steer motor but for anyone to give an accurate answer we'd need to know what motor you're actually working on.
