Mercruiser I.D. ??

Just fell into a deal to good to pass up, I picked up an 86 Sea Ray Seville with a Mercruiser 140 I/O in great shape for $1300.00.

Now that I have it, I need to learn how to use it....... HE! HE!

Actually my question is, how do I identify the engine and outdrive, so that I can find some manuals. I also am trying to find some manuals for the boat itself too.

Any help guys??

That is kind of what I am wanting to identify, I do not know if the motor and outdrive are original.

Then you need some Mercruiser serial numbers.
Look on the engine, just above the starter should be a metal tag. The drive should also be stamped on the port side with a SN.

So far I can only find numbers on the engine...... 2770087 265 84
Those are the numbers above the starter, I cannot find any numbers anywhere on the outdrive.

That number isn't a good number for the engine. Here is where to find the tag for the engine.

Don,
Well I was able to find the engine ID tag, it is ( A314037 ), unfortunately for me, whatever tag there was at one time on the outdrive is gone, It has been painted several times it looks like, and there is no sign of any tags or numbers stamped there.

Ayuh,............

You have a 1986,.........
That means, unless things have been Drastically Changed,........

You have a 3.0l, 181cid. 4 cylinder rated at 140hp,........
And,.......
An Alpha 1 drive.........

You'll want the Manuals for the 3.0l, 140hp motor,+ the Alpha 1...............

So,....... In Reality,..... Don answered your Question in the 2nd post of this thread........

#10 for your engine, and #6 for your drive.

I think you'll find the pictures in there will look Exactly like the motor,+ drive in your boat............;)
