In the 1962 Evinrude 75hp model 50931A Starflite Electric Shift parts manual there is a listing for a Delco-Remy igition coil with a part number of 378231. Does anyone know what the Delco part number is for this ignition coil?

Re: 1962 Evinrude 75hp V4 Ignition Coil

Any standard 12v auto coil works fine. I used one on a 1965 Johnson 75 when the OMC version was out of production and imposible to find (before internet days). My local OMC dealer told me to go that route and he was right...it ran for yrs without problems on the auto coil. The only thing to watch out for is whether your motor uses an internal or external resistor with the coil. My 75 elec shift originally used a "resistor wire" to make the resistance but I disconnected it and bought the auto coil with internal resistor. The resistor wire is red/white candy cane style and easy to identify.

I have a good external resistor coil on the motor now but I am trying to find an original Delco coil. I think I can find one if I know the Delco part number.
