Halloween.

It's always a challenge for the neighborhood.

What to do?

The kids are all wise to us.

Each year they get smarter and it gets harder and harder to fool them.

Last year, the hi-voltage line connected to the doorbell only got the postman... poor Freddie, we miss him. He only got most of the mail mixed up... his replacement gives us mail from several surrounding towns and he throws them from his car. (Maybe a timber deadfall for next year....)

Year before, Jack had that neat trap-door thing on his stoop which dropped whoever pushed his bell into a pit under the porch... we've yet to recieve a new Pastor from the Bishopric...

The spring-net, the trip-line and path-noose are all "old hat" around here and we don't wanna go to explosives (too messy), so I dunno WHAT we're gonna do to try to bag one of 'em this year.

Only a few more days to come up with a good idea and construct it (and then test it on Miss Bertzmunder)...

It's a conundrum, allrite.

Hmmm. Thats a hard one. Maybe a spring loaded door mat that will launch them over the roof into the back yard when they press the doorbell?

Nah. Tried that one year, either they splatter on the second story or get caught on the chimney. Chimney repairs are SO expensive. Now for a one-story rancher, it might just work, but we're all three story flat-front houses around here.

I'd also though caltrops, but the kiddies all wear heavy-soled shoes.

Ahhh, just break down and do the explosives! I bet Bob would help you - between he and Noel, I am sure you could get quite a show that would well be worth the mess you had to clean up! :D

Standing on top of the house with a garder hose works for me. Hope their little costumes are water proof. I also like to record some real scary sound effects and play them from a tape player tied to a string and lowered into the city drain gutter in front of my house. They hear it and cant figure out where its coming from.::D:D Another trick Ive done is to connect a motion sensor to a relay that sets off a small black power flash located beside the front door. The large flash makes them run for cover after they wee wee in their pants.....Also you might try downloading the sounds of a vicious dog barking and when they ring the doorbell play it back as you holler out that you cant open the door cause the dog will run out........saves alot of candy
