Broke the tip off the skeg on 9.9

Broke the tip, a one inch piece (triangle) off the skeg on my Johnson 9.9. I've been told it can be repaired, question is how bad will it be if I use the motor before I get it fixed?

It will make no noticeable difference in operation, but exposes the propeller. The skeg is designed to move objects down and under the propeller to protect it.

if it is snapped of clean, and very little bend, i wound not worry about it. there are millions out there with broken skegs.

Thank you! At least I can be out a few more times before my season ends. I have noticed that all of the skeg gards are for 40 hp and up, I don't seem to see any for a 9.9 any reason for that, or am I just not looking in the right places.
