i removed my prop for the first time yesterday. (115hp Merc 4 stroke). i was surprised to see the shaft dry as a bone. is this normal on a new motor?? thanks

It should have a thin coating of grease so the prop will not seize on the shaft.

Nope,........

I Never install a Prop without Greasing the Propshaft 1st...........
