Default 25hp Mercury power trim

I have just replaced the power trim cylinder of my 2003,Mercury 25 HP. Now I need to fill up the system with fluid but the Mercury owner manual does not give the procedure to do that.

What steps should I follow to add fluid and purge air?

Thank you,

Rejean

Rejean,

With the engine tilted up, remove the fill cap. Fill with fluid and replace the cap. Cycle the trim system 2 or 3 times from fully up to fully down, and recheck the fluid level, with the engine in the up position. If necessary top up the fluid. All done.

Yup. Exactly what I just did. Motor in the full up position, take the filler cap off, fill, replace filler cap, I did 4 or 5 full "ups and downs", then refilled, did it again, and this time only needed a very little bit to top off. Works great...as soon as I can get my UP problem fixed.
