Default tower on an outboard motor

I was wondering if a tower really does make a lot of difference since i am thinking of buying one but i am not sure is the tower heps a lot getting more air and performing better the jumps

Only way to get air is to get that rope above your shoulder level when you are boarding, otherwise it's pulling you down.
