Hello everyone , I am new to this site . I have a problem see maybe I can get some help . I am doing this for a friend with a fishing boat that has a seized engine and I am a auto mechanic not much experience about marine engine. He has a boat with the 5.8L V8 Ford engine and it was overheated and been park on the driveway a least two month . I went there today and tried to crank engine with all the plugs off and it only move about 15 degree and I decided to remove the head , after the head was removed I found all the cylinder were corroded and tried to spay with WD40 and turn the crank by hand but it didnt move further . My question is are there any chemical I can use to loosen up those rust or any other method that i can use beside engine R&R. thank you very much in advance for any help . God bless

Re: seized engine

nope, its time for a set of pistons.
ever notice how all them nascar boys run engines at full throttle and full load after breaking loose a siezed motor ?
kinda like how they use 3 year old gas and last years cooling system to win .
can you make it run, most likly. will it perform as designed? most likly not.

Re: seized engine

Thank you so much RODBOLT for the advise . I have one more question , I looked at the head gasket they were ok but where this sea water get into piston ? I pressurized the cooling system and found no leak , I noticed there is no oil at all in the pump that look like the power steering pump in the car and its hose connect to a can like part that has hoses go the exhaust manifold and out to sterndrive , is this a pump ? can it cause the sea water to get in the engine if it fail? thank you so much for reading this post and any help is appreciated. thank

Re: seized engine

Most likely the engine dieseled when it quit & ingested water through the exhaust valves.......
If it sat with sea water in it for two weeks, it probably needs to be R&Red....:(
