Convert 1988 3.0L Mercruiser to 3.7L Mercruiser?

Can anybody tell me what's all involved here, time and moneywise? Parts readily available? Thinking of doing this down the road to an '88 SeaRay Seville 18' to pick up 35hp.

The 3.7L was not well liked and had some issues. Plus, it's been out of production for quite some time. You're better off rebuilding your engine bed and going to V-6, 4.3L.

....convert a boat with a dependable, darn near idiot proof (but usually underpowered) 3 liter 4 banger to the no longer in production, ponderous charging system, only slightly more HP, pizz poor designed 3.7 liter Mercrusier 4 banger?

Thanks for the input, this boat is in such good shape, the only downer is the 3.0L. I have heard the downside of the 3.7, but also some people I respect like the motor if it's well cared for and with the right motor in good shape...Nah, you are right. Going to an obsolete motor would be foolish. I will start researching the 4.3L route...really wanted to avoid changing the mount structure of the boat but in the end it would be worth the extra work.

The Truth really $uck$ when it isn't Sugar Coated...............

Bomar is just alittle more To the Point,......
But,.....
It's the Same Answer you're going to get from Everybody who has any clue to What a 470 is............

The first response to my questions was well thought out and helpful. The second, while accurate, was mean spirited and rude. There's really no need for it. IF it was an easy job AND I had a solid 3.7 from a good source it might make sense to add on 35 to 45 hp, no?
