shifting problem / 76' johnson 115hp

Linkage can be adjusted to fully engage forward or reverse but not both,with forward engaged in water reverse pops will not engage I can manually shift w/no problem. (the control box worked fine w/previous 65hp johnson 73') replaced the control cable,did not see internal ajdustments in manuel. What am I missing ? thanks

follow-up thought , after searching other posts could this be shifting rod adj.
does anyone know proper length for the ajd. I have not dropped foot would be a good time to replace impeller. again thanks for all advice.
