Unhappy 200HP Yamaha ignition problems

I own a 1999 Yamaha 200hp on a Barefoot Sanger

In 27 years I have had only one problem that was a broken steering cable. Never has the boat failed me in approximately 780 hours of use

They issue is the engine will not fire. I took the boat to a certified Yamaha service center to diagnose. They called only two days later and I as told “ it fired right up” I told the mechanic that concerns me, because I ran the battery flat trying to get it started. He said right now it fires on demand. So I had the mechanic do a full service, plugs, lower end, impeller etc.

After picking the boat up, went out for a ski, but I would not fire again. I call the shop upset saying the baot will not fire, I was told you have to understand that it fired up here, and interment problems are hard to diagnose

My question to the form members is

What is the likely cause of interment problems relating to ignition problems?

I’d like to know before I bring the boat back for the second time for the same problem

Thanks

Mark

bad kill switch, bad ignition switch...? carb or fuel injected ? the "smarter" fuel injected ones get a little more tricky to diagnose

It's not fuel injected or a fuel problem. pulled a plug to see if I was getting spark, but was not.

I have played with kill switch, removing the lanyard and hooked backup still not spark.

At least I have an idea and will pass this on to the shop

Thanks for reply
