Need help with drive pin for 1988 2.5 Evinrude

I have a 1988 Evinrude 2.5 hp 2 cylinder, model # E3RCCM. The drive pin sheared running my canoe over an oyster bed, and I'd like to follow the suggestion of other posters and get a stainless steel rod and saw sections to replace it. Can someone please tell me the thickness and length of the rod pieces I'd need? From another posting, I gather I should use 304 rod, and that speedymetals.com is a place to get them.

The part number is 333513, but sorry I don't have the specs on one that new. But it shouldn't take a genius to measure the diameter of the old one and the length of the slot that it fits in the propeller. The propeller does have a rubber shock ring, so certainly the stainless steel material would be appropriate.

Thanks for responding. Yes, I thought that just going ahead and buying some 1/8" rod would do, but I thought I should check first.

I just bought a 1/8" rod and did the same. But I don't see why you would need to spend the money on stainless, if you run in saltwater you need to wash your motor regularly anyway. I paid $2 for a 3 foot section of 1/8" rod at Home Depot.

We just went through the same scenario with another man whom sheared a pin and wanted to go to home depot. I'll give three reasons to go with stainless: no rot, no rust, and less corrossion.

I was just saying that if hes in salt water, he would need to flush it all the time anyway but I guess if you don't want to have to think about it.
Hey pheasant how much are those stainless rods?
