I purchased another used boat this year 1994 Bayliner Cuddy with a Mercruiser 4.3 LX Alpha year serial number OF121708. I have the Mercruiser Service Manual number 18 and am getting ready to winterize the boat. It's still in the water, how do I tell if it's closed water cooling or seawater cooling.

Thanks in advance

Yeah, that type of question tends to be followed(4-5 months later) by "OK, I just pulled the cover off the boat today, hooked up the hose and fired the engine up. Started right up, sounded great so I let it run until it was warm. All is good so far, but here is my question. I checked the oil again after I shut it down and it looked like a bowl of CoCo Pebbles that had been left sitting overnight. WHY???"

To quote Mr. Eastwood "A man's got to know his limitations"

If you are uncomfortable identifying components, then you should not be risking a 4k engine replacement to save $150.
