I just bought an used boat with a 2001 mercury 40 HP motor, I have been recommanded to purchase a repair manual. I found 2 manuals out there, one is published by Mercury and the other one is published by Seloc, which one should I buy?

If you want toilet paper, buy the Seloc. If you want to repair your engine, buy the manual written by the people who built the engine....

Achris gives excellent advice. The factory manual is far superior.

If you already have not bought one from merc, go to Amozon.com and buy one thru them, a might bit less expensive
