I'm not sure where this should go, so I'll post it here (as an FYI)

From MSNBC:

6 die from brain-eating amoeba after swimming
Rare organism that lives in lakes entered victims’ bodies through the nose

...
<snip>
After doing more tests, doctors said Aaron probably picked up the amoeba a week before while swimming in the balmy shallows of Lake Havasu, a popular man-made lake on the Colorado River between Arizona and California.
...
...
People who are infected tend to complain of a stiff neck, headaches and fevers. In the later stages, they’ll show signs of brain damage such as hallucinations and behavioral changes, he said.
...
...
Once infected, most people have little chance of survival. Some drugs have stopped the amoeba in lab experiments, but people who have been attacked rarely survive, Beach said.

Just thought everyone should be aware...

The key word in that headline is "rare". You've probably got a better chance of being eaten by an alligator.

Hmm...wierd, my original post no longer seems to have the URL in it

From MSNBC:

Edit:

I saw JB's edit note...Sorry JB, forgot to disable parsing hyperlinks when I posted the first time.

Except for this bit of optimistic journalism:
"
Even though encounters with the microscopic bug are extraordinarily rare, it?s killed six boys and young men this year. The spike in cases has health officials concerned, and they are predicting more cases in the future.

There is a hot springs up river from Havasu and about 8 miles down stream from Hoover Dam which is know to have that amoeba in it. People are always warned not to put their head underwater there,

Penalty Flag thrown for errant editing.

Player SBN.

Infraction: Edited post should read "LT lack's sufficient gray matter to support the interest or appetites of the amoeba"

That will be a 10 post penalty enforced from the post of infraction.

OK boys play nice:p:D:D

Ya gotta admit it was funny.....:D

Actually I'm deeply hurt and may be emotionally scarred for life from this................. I think I maybe suffering Posting, Post traumatic editing syndrome.
I live in constant fear of being "edited" while I sleep. Maybe if I could admit it was funny I would be able to begin rebuilding my life. I understand admission is the first step towards recovery. ;)
