Ok so when I try to start my boat it takes about 5 mins of cranking and it will start then die a few times. After I get it started and warmed up I have to push down the idle bar (thing that makes it idle higher) and throw it into full throttle and pull back to slow to get it going or else it will die. From then on out it pretty much has 2 speeds slow and fast, if I try to slowly increase the speed, it will die, but if i go full throttle and pull back down it wont die. (all this makes it really hard when i am in a no wake zone ha) Then if i let it idle without the idle bar all the way up it will die. Any suggestions on what the problem is? Thank you for your time.

Welcome to iboats. What is your starting procedure, step by step. When was the carb last bathed and rebuilt?

I guess thats the problem I could go and do all the little things first, but I am at college, just bought the boat and really dont have any tools directly avaliable... so i was just wondering if this was a common problem, I dont have the resources or time to do all that

What is your starting procedure????? You should be priming the fuel bulb until it is hard, raising the fast idle lever, holding the key in for an 8 count to prime it, then turn it over, feathering the choke if needed if dying. Carb rebuilds are a common problem, just part of the maintainence of owning a boat. Some standard tools and an owners manual will be necessary to get you going.
