Default Part Number - 1960 Evinrude 18 hp Upper Crankcase Seal

Does anyone have the correct part number for the upper crankcase seal for a 1960 Evinrude Fastwin 18 hp? I was given the part number 305987, but it turns out that it is way too small. Its an expensive seal and I don't want to buy the wrong one again.

Thanks

That's the number my 1960 Johnson part book list for your 18HP.Could they have given you the wrong part? Sometimes the number is on the seal.

I'm assuming they must have. I'm going to return the seal and bring my old one with me.

Turns out its the seal I got has the right dimensions for a 305987, unfortunately my motor doesn't take that seal. Its OD is 1 3/8", but the one I need is 1 7/16". Perhaps mine is a hold out from the 1959 model year, which I understand had a different seal. guess the only thing left is to try the older seal. The plug on the motor says 15032, which is a 1960 so I'm not confused about the year.
