Hello all - I have a 1991 eRude 150, and I had the cover off tonite while testing my ignition switch, and noticed a few HUGE sparks while turning the engine over. These where pretty big sparks... not many, but while turning it over for 2 to 5 seconds at a time, I would see 1 to 2 of these big sparks at or near where the starter gear engages the flywheel. Is this normal? Pretty scary... but the engine does start and runs well. Also, after letting the engine run for a few minutes, I shut it off, and went to disconnect the pos battery cable, and it was real hot. Is this normal? Thanks for your help!

Many larger HP engines have a seperate ground cable directly from the starter to the main battery ground cable.
Like Tashasdaddy said, clean and tighten ALL battery cables, BOTH ends.
While you have either of the battery cables off the battery use a test light (or any 12 volt light bulb) touch one terminal of the bulb to the battery terminal and the other side of the buld to the battery cable. Make sure ALL switches, ign, bilge, radio, etc., are turned OFF. If the light lights up you have an electrical problem.
