sea water pump repair kit/serial number on outdrive

1988 mercruiser 5.7 alpha one

I bought a quiksilver (sea water) waterpump upper repair kit # 46-96148Q 8
I boughtt it because it said alpha 1 drives. when I got home something tells me this may not be the right one. The package has the list of serial numbers on it.
I am having trouble finding my serial number on my outdrive.
Can anybody tell me will this fit my pump and where can I find my outdrive serial number I looked all over and I dont see it.

If you have it apart, it will be stamped on the inside of the lower gear case in the bottom of the aft cavity.....;)​

Is there anyway to tell what you have before you take it apart? I like to have the parts inhand before taking things apart. I thought the drive s/n would be on the outside.

Thank you very much. I will get the #'s when I take the lower off to rebuild my pump. I just got worried when I read further on the package it was talking about 4 cylinders and up.

Package says fits all i/r/mr/alpha one drives (sn 2495186-0d469858) and all merc and mariner 4 cyl and above with a short veined impeller.
