I have a Minn Kota 55t ( 55 ) rear trolling motor. I just got a boat and it came with the same trolling motor ( rear mount )also a smaller one in the front. ( 35 )

The lakes I go to have a no gas motor thing. So, I have to use a trolling motor.

I have room for a 3rd battery.

My question is:
Is there any way to use 2 55T motors on the rear and control them by a single handle some way?
And do you think 2 will help go any faster?

I was told by some one that there is a kit to do it. i can't find any.

thanks,

Re: Dual Trolling motors

There are a lot of electric only tournaments within a 100 miles of where I live. The optimal way to do it, is have a 24 volt motor on the back, with 2 batteries, and a 12 volt up front. The 24 has an on/off button up front. It is locked straight. You stay up front the whole time, and use the rear one for speed, and your front one for fishing/steering.
You can have 2 12v motors doing this, but 1 24 volt will go longer than the 2 12s. Your call on that one.

just a thought, it seems like the motor in front would add drag, why not tilt it up, and just drag a paddle for steering. then lower the front for fishing. or just the front motor add that much more power for speed.

Re: Dual Trolling motors

ive got about 4 or 5 trollers of all different kinds. I should mount them all over the place on my 14' alum bass boat. 3 in the back and 2 in the front. Hehe or 2 in the back 1 in the front and 1 on each side.

Good ideal bassboy1. But, trying to turn a boat that fast with a front troller. scary.:eek:

I am going to test this ideal out a little. I can install a multi volt control to control the amount of volts going to the full on power of the rear trollers . just limits the volt going to the motor at one time.

maybe a , using a kicker motor link to connect them both to turn.

I just have 2 tm . I just wanted to use them. Not, just have one ( $375 motor) laying around. Both less then 4 months old.

But, I guess I will just might have to sell one of them. take a loss.

Was trying some good Ideals to use them. Not just jokes.

edit: also I'm not doing this to race. just the use the TM I have and for getting to the hole I like to fish at faster.
