Hi
Thanks to everyones help as i have now changed both manifolds and risers on my 98 v8 5.0l. They were both badly blocked.
I now have a good flow from both sides at the exhaust, after a good run to check for leaks i checked the riser temperatures and one side was barely warm with the stardboard side hot, i.e. not to hot that you couldn't keep your hand on there.
On this forum it's been stated that there will be a temperature difference but should it be that much?
I've checked the thermostat housing and installed a new thermostat. The front of the thermostat housing was hot (rear cold) and the large pipe to the engine circulation pump was also hot, is this normal.
Fingers crossed !!!

Sounds OK. See, water comes in cold from one direction, to both Man's and the block...when the block stat opens, that hot water is going more out one man, following the flow of least resistance..my left ( looking back at the motor) runs hotter too
