I have a brass fitting that will not stay tight. There is a line from the trim motor to the top of engine near stern and another line leaving there and going thru transom to stern drive. They both have brass fittings with springs inside. Should I use thread tape or should I purchase a new one? Not sure what the brass fitting is called. 81-Merc-350/260hp GM with Alpha 1.

Buy new ones...I wouldn't mess with tape

Re: Trim Hydraulic Line Fitting

I did finally find one and you could tell by the threads being worn on the old one compared to the new one that that was the problem. Thanks.
