homemade lower end seals?

how would someone make lower end seals my 1952 johnson keeps leaking lower end oil same with my 1955 evinrude :(

Measure the shaft and bore. Then check your yellow pages for a bearing dealer. There are specialty suppliers that do most of their business with factories, agriculture, and other large clients that use such things in their machinery. They sell seals too. Try Googling Chicago Rawhide.

In my area we have a Kaman Bearing store. I've gotten lots of small outboard seals from them over the years. They can do it by dimension, or even better, if you can bring the old seal in with you...

Agree with the other responses. A full blown bearing supplier will be able to take care of you. I use Canadian Bearing where I am for all bearing and seal needs. Usually half the price of anywhere else, the guy at the counter knows exactly what you need and 99.9% of the time it is in stock.
